Old-regime tax savings checklist

  • 80C (₹1.5L): EPF, PPF, ELSS, life insurance premium, 5-yr tax-saver FD, home-loan principal, tuition fees.
  • 80D (₹25k + ₹50k seniors): health insurance premium.
  • 80CCD(1B) (₹50k extra): NPS Tier-I contribution.
  • 80CCD(2) (~14% of basic): employer NPS — available in both regimes.
  • Section 24(b) (₹2L): home-loan interest on self-occupied house.
  • 80E: education-loan interest, no cap.
