How these changes are measured

  • New entry: the scheme holds the company this month and did not last month. Removed: it held the company last month and holds none now.
  • Increased / Decreased: the number of shares (or units) changed by 1% or more. Weights are shown for context, but they also move with prices.
  • Split / bonus: the share count changed only because of a stock split, bonus issue or consolidation — detected across all funds holding the stock and adjusted for.
  • Only schemes with portfolios for both months are compared (1,622 this month). 16 newly launched schemes are shown as “New scheme”, not as buyers. 15 schemes without a disclosure this month (merged, wound up, or not yet collected) are left out rather than counted as sellers.
  • Direct Plan – Growth only, one row per scheme; companies matched by ISIN, so renamed companies stay the same stock.

Corporate actions adjusted this month: INE811A01 (×2), INE419M01 (×2), INE127I01 (×3), US61174X1090 (×2), INE0LZF01 (×10).

Fund buying and selling — common questions

SEBI requires every fund house to publish each scheme’s complete portfolio at the end of every month, including the number of shares held. We collect those official disclosures from all AMCs we can reach and compare each scheme’s portfolio with its previous month. A company that appears for the first time is a new entry; one that disappears is a full exit; a higher or lower share count is an increase or a decrease.
A stock’s weight moves every day with its price and with the fund’s other holdings, even when the fund manager does nothing. The number of shares only changes when the fund actually buys or sells, so it is the honest measure. Moves under 1% are treated as unchanged, because index funds and funds with steady SIP inflows tweak every position slightly each month.
When a company splits its shares or issues bonus shares, every holder’s share count jumps (for example doubles) without any buying. We detect these from the pattern across all funds holding the stock — the share count rises by a common ratio while the value per share falls by the same ratio — and adjust for it, so these funds are not shown as buyers.
One entry per scheme — the Direct Plan, Growth option — for every scheme we could match to its AMFI code, covering equity, hybrid, index, debt and other funds. A scheme appears in the month-on-month comparison only if we have its portfolio for both months, so a fund house whose disclosure could not be collected is never counted as selling everything.
No. Fund managers buy and sell for many reasons — inflows and redemptions, index changes, rebalancing to a mandate, risk limits — and the disclosure is already weeks old by the time it is published. This page reports what happened; it is not a signal or a recommendation.
Fund houses publish monthly portfolios by around the 10th of the following month. We refresh on the 12th and 15th, so a month’s changes usually appear here by mid-month.
