How much down payment is right?
- Home: Indian banks fund up to 80–90% LTV. Most planners suggest 20–25% DP for affordability + buffer.
- Car: 20% minimum. Higher DP cuts EMI and total interest aggressively.
- Don't drain emergency fund or sell long-term equity to pump DP — partial loan + intact corpus often wins on after-tax basis.
